Daniel slumped down in the cushioned captains chair and ignored the beeps and alarms that echoed all around him. His haunting blue eyes stung from the blood that seeped into them from the wound on the top of his head. He ignored the pain as he obsessively traced over every inch of the consoles and monitors in the cockpit with them.

There was a loud banging at the exit door, but he paid it no attention. He felt a strange peace as he now stared out into the endless sea of space. He thought about the freedom he had found amongst the stars , and couldn't help but grin even under the circumstances.

While Daniel daydreamed of the adventure that lead him to this point, the star ship hurdled toward its destination. In the far distance was a speck that was hard to distinguish from the other specks that littered the black sea.

"Time til arrival on Azeroth is ten minutes."

The sweet sound of his wife's voice drew Daniel out of his daze. He pushed the cracked glasses up on his nose and brushed the bloody hair out of his eyes.

"Eve?"

The voice called out again from everywhere around him.

"Yes, Daniel?"

"You'll stay with me, won't you?"

An eerie silence came over the cockpit, so loud in its silence that Daniel could focus on nothing else – not the alarms, the loud pounding at the door, nor the tormented screams that accompanied it.

"Yes. I'll be with you until the very end."

Daniel gave a reassured smile.

"Thank you, Eve. I want to record my last log."

A red light on the wall lit up in rhythm with the angelic yet unfeeling voice he lovingly called Eve.

"Whenever you are ready, Daniel."

He looked at a nearby monitor and changed the video feed to right outside of the cockpit. He watched as almost a dozen figures tried desperately to break down the door to get to him. They seemed to be in some sort of trance and devoid of any rationale as they continued to assault the reinforced door that separated them by just a little over a dozen feet.

"Alright. Let's begin."

Daniel closed his eyes and bent over in his seat. He rested his injured head in his hands and fought back the emotion that was trying to escape from his usually cool demeanor.

My name is Daniel Blackthorne, researcher aboard the science vessel Proudmoore. We were on a mission to find evidence that the Lich King was real.

I found it.
I had an idea to write a horror story based in the Warcraft universe, except it was set thousands of years in the future in a sci fi setting. It sounds good in my head. After finding an ancient orcish portal leading to their ancient home world, a human researcher and his team travel through it in the hopes of discovery. What they find instead is an forgotten evil that they had all been told was just a story.

This is the introduction to it. I draw inspiration from Prometheus and the newest Coheed album. I'll write it as a short story. Let's see how it turns out, and if I finish it!
