Wagner's Hill

Description

Anyone from the Southern Illinois area of Mounds/Mound City/Cairo has probably heard of Wagner's Hill. if you believe the rumors there was a vicious murder there a long time ago and the spirits of the victim and killer are still haunting the grounds. I grew up with these stories and always wanted to check it out, but it wasn't until recently when Ghost Hunters became popular that I got the nerve to explore the paranormal without...too much...fear of being judged as a kook.

This was our second official investigation, and after hiking through mass amounts of woods snapping pictures, getting some video, and doing EVP work we called it a wrap. Bob, Lindsey, and myself went back to HQ, my home, popped open some Gatorade, and went through the evidence.

Needless to say, there was not much of interest. We asked questions, provoked spirits, and came up with nothing on EVP and only one photo that was of interest.

I admit this is an interesting photo. Any ghost hunter with a camera has probably caught orbs (or dust, depending on who you ask) but what exactly could this be? Reflection of my flashlight? Spider web that fell and got caught in the flash? It does seem to be reaching out for me (to the left). We were pretty astonished by the photo and felt we may have captured something solid.

But I leave it up for debate. Ghostly shot, or lucky flash photography? You decide.

I do know that after reviewing the evidence, and putting this photo aside as just a possibility, I'd have to say Wagner's Hill is just a cliched ghost story to freak kids out, is not haunted, and is a big disappointment to someone who was hoping for truth to the big local haunted hill.

Stay tuned for more investigations that we hopefully we won't have to break the law to do.

Hi, I know this is an old post but I hope this will still reach you. I am looking for more information on the rumors. You see, my mother actually owns the land that this is located. In January of 2022, out of nowhere, her husband tried to kill her and shot himself in the process. I want her to get rid of the land, and NOT put it in her will to my child. With so much heartbreak there, I would rather it be sold and out of my family.

I know at one point they found a grave on the property but she cant seem to remember the name. If anyone has any information that would be amazing.
